Whether you are a seasoned hot tub enthusiast or a newcomer looking to optimize your relaxation, these accessories are sure to take your hydrotherapy sessions to the next level.

Let’s get into it!

Methodology: How I Chose These Products

I didn’t choose these on a whim, these picks were carefully chosen based on my personal experience and many of these products I use myself on a regular basis. Here are some of the factors I considered when choosing these 12 options:

Functionality – How often are you going to use these items? Whether you’re a frequent soaker or weekend warrior, you want to make sure you can actually use these items. Many of the products I chose will seem necessary when you use them.

Intent – What’s the purpose behind the product? Is it to make your soak more soothing? Make the hot tub safer? Or help improve the entertainment factor? These are all questions you should ask yourself.

Durability – Whenever you involve water, you need to consider the durability and waterproof nature of the product. All of these items are incredibly durable and reliable.

Price – If you just bought a new spa, you might be a little strapped for cash so I always factor the budget into all of the products I choose. There are some cheap and some expensive items on here that you could potentially go without.

The Best Hot Tub Accessories: Expert Picks

hot tub step

1. Spa Steps

Convenience and safety are important with a home spa. This is a practical accessory that makes your hot tub easier and safer to get in and out of.

First and foremost, spa steps provide a secure and stable platform for entering and exiting your hot tub. With their sturdy construction and slip-resistant surfaces, they ensure a safe transition in and out of the bubbling waters, minimizing the risk of slips or accidents.

This is especially important for individuals with limited mobility or those who may have difficulty climbing in and out of a high-sided hot tub.

Spa steps also add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your hot tub area. Available in a range of designs, colors, and materials, they can be seamlessly integrated into your outdoor décor, complementing the aesthetics of your surroundings.

Whether you prefer a classic wooden look, a sleek and modern design, or something in between, there is a style of spa steps to suit every taste and preference. You could even get hot tub steps that come with a built-in handrail.

Best of all, this jacuzzi accessory can serve as a storage area as well. Take the XtremepowerUS Slip Resistant Steps for example.

They’re not only aesthetic and safe but they have areas for you to store towels, cleaning products, and whatever else you may need for your spa. This is one of those products that you didn’t know you needed until you bought it.

spa vacuum

2. Spa Vacuum

Maintaining a clean and hygienic hot tub is essential for ensuring a delightful and healthy soaking experience. While regular water treatment and filtration systems play a crucial role, this is a hot tub accessory that can help level up your cleanliness.

A spa vacuum is specifically designed to remove dirt, debris, and small particles that accumulate in your hot tub over time. Unlike conventional pool vacuums, spa vacuums are compact, lightweight, and engineered to maneuver efficiently in the limited space of a hot tub.

With their powerful suction capabilities and specialized attachments, they effectively target hard-to-reach areas such as corners, steps, and crevices, leaving your hot tub immaculately clean.

I use the Aura Paradise vacuum for my outdoor spa because I don’t always cover it so bugs, leaves, and other debris can get stuck inside. It’s not only for aesthetics but it helps prevent these items from getting stuck in your filters.

Make your hot tub maintenance easier, it’s worth the cost!

hot tub screen

3. Privacy Screens

Creating a tranquil and serene environment is essential for immersing yourself fully in the rejuvenating experience of a home spa.

While the soothing waters of your hot tub provide relaxation, privacy plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of seclusion and calm. This is where privacy screens come into play, offering a fantastic solution to enhance your home spa retreat.

I personally love the feeling of an outdoor spa during the winter months and this is when my yard lacks privacy because the leaves have fallen and I have peering eyes from neighboring windows.

By strategically placing screens around your hot tub, you can create a shielded space that allows you to unwind without the prying eyes of neighbors or passersby. This sense of privacy allows you to fully let go, escape from the outside world, and indulge in your spa experience without any distractions.

Beyond simple privacy, they’re functional as well. If you install permanent screens, they can protect against wind, noise, and even sun. This can provide a better experience overall so I highly recommend considering a screen if you have an outdoor hot tub.

hot tub cover lift kit

4. Hot Tub Cover Lift

A cover lift might be one of the most important hot tub accessories I’ve ever purchased. A hot tub cover lift provides unparalleled convenience. The cover of a hot tub can be heavy and awkward to lift, especially if you’re doing it on your own.

A lift like the “Rock It” eliminates the need for manual lifting, making it effortless to open and close your hot tub. With just a simple push or pull, you can effortlessly access your hot tub and enjoy a relaxing soak without any hassle.

This convenience becomes particularly valuable over time when the cover may become heavier due to moisture absorption.

Beyond convenience, a hot tub cover lifter extends the lifespan of your cover and ensures its proper maintenance.

By using a cover lift, you can prevent unnecessary wear and tear caused by dragging or improperly storing the cover. This helps protect the cover from damage, such as punctures, tears, or warping, which could lead to decreased insulation and increased energy costs.

With a spa cover lift, you can easily and safely store the cover in a designated position, keeping it in pristine condition for longer.

Additionally, it enhances safety around your spa. By removing the need to manually handle a heavy cover, the risk of strains, back injuries, or accidents is significantly reduced.

This is particularly beneficial for individuals with limited physical strength or mobility challenges, allowing them to enjoy their hot tub experience with peace of mind.

hot tub cover locks

5. Cover Locks

Hot tub cover locks are one of the more important outdoor hot tub accessories. Cover locks provide an added layer of security, ensuring that your hot tub remains protected and giving you peace of mind.

I like to use straps and cover latches that are built directly into my cover. These should work for most covers.

By securing the cover in place, cover locks help keep out curious children, pets, or any other individuals who should not be using the hot tub. This is particularly important if you have young children or if your hot tub is located in a public area.

Cover locks also protect your hot tub from potential damage caused by external elements. Strong winds, heavy rain, or even wildlife can pose a threat to your hot tub’s cover.

A secure cover lock ensures that the cover remains in place, shielding your hot tub from debris, leaves, and other unwanted materials.

These are incredibly affordable and easy to use so it’s well worth it.

spa table tray

6. Spa Tray

If you’re more interested in cool hot tub accessories, a spa tray is a great way to enhance the entertainment factor of your spa when guests come over to soak with you.

A great adjustable spa tray is water-resistant and sturdy enough to hold drinks without tipping and spilling. The cup holder caddy is great for your hot tub spa but also works with swimming pools as well.

It eliminates the need to balance plates or glasses on the edge of the tub or hold them in your hands, ensuring that your refreshments are easily accessible without compromising your relaxation. This not only enhances convenience but also adds a touch of luxury to your hot tub experience.

Some spa trays can even be attached to the side of the hot tub so you don’t have to worry about bumping it as it floats around.

Invest in a spa tray and elevate your hot tub gatherings to a whole new level, creating unforgettable moments of relaxation, conversation, and indulgence with friends and loved ones.

thermometer for hot tub

7. Floating Thermometer

Like a sauna, most hot tubs automatically track and adjust the temperature based on your preferences. Still, there are reasons why someone might want a floating thermometer.

It provides instant and accurate temperature readings. While hot tubs may have built-in temperature sensors, they can occasionally become inaccurate over time or due to technical glitches.

By having a reliable floating thermometer, you can cross-reference the temperature displayed on your hot tub’s control panel, ensuring that the water is at the desired and safe temperature before stepping in.

You’ll find that troubleshooting issues with your spa is easier when you have another way to check the temperature. It never hurts to have a back up and it doesn’t mean you have to leave it in the water all the time. Just use it when you need it.

underwater lights for hot tub

8. Submersible LED Lights

If you’re into fun hot tub accessories that enhance the mood and elevate the experience, LED lights are a great way to go.

I use submersible lights that I can control using a remote so if your spa doesn’t have any built-in light features or you just want to level up the colors, these are a great option.

LED lights enhance the nighttime ambiance of your hot tub, allowing you to extend your relaxation into the evening hours. The soft and gentle glow emanating from the lights creates a soothing and enchanting atmosphere, making your hot tub sessions even more inviting and tranquil.

waterproof speaker for hot tub

9. Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker

One of the best hot tub accessories I ever invested in was a Bluetooth speaker. The Bose SoundLink Micro Speaker is one of the highest recommended speakers for spas because it’s waterproof, durable, and has amazing audio quality.

With an IPX7 waterproof rating, the SoundLink Micro Speaker can handle accidental splashes, rain, or even being submerged in shallow water for a limited time. This makes it perfect for use in your home spa, where water is an inherent part of the environment.

You can relax in your hot tub without worrying about damaging the speaker or compromising its performance.

The speaker also has a six hour battery life so you can enjoy the music for the entire duration of your soak and then some. Music is a great way to enhance the experience so I highly recommend getting yourself a speaker.

hot tub scents to use

10. Aromatherapy Scents

Call me weird but one of the things I love most about hot tubs are the smells. The hot steamy aroma that comes from the water is so soothing and using aromatherapy crystals can help take the experience to a whole new level.

These crystals come in a variety of scents and sprinkling them in your home spa is completely safe and will not damage it. Just be sure to keep an eye on your chemical readings and pH of your hot tub water to ensure nothing has changed.

All-in-all, if you’re into wellness and you believe in aromatherapy, adding a unique and therapeutic scent to your spa can help clear your head and improve your overall well being.

spa cushions hot tub seat

11. Spa Seat Cushions

Let’s be real, most hot tub seats are not that comfortable no matter what your height or weight is. They’re ergonomically designed but they lack any type of padding so I get why spa seat cushions are becoming more popular.

Cushions offer improved comfort during your hot tub soak. With their plush padding and ergonomic design, they provide a soft and supportive surface for you to sit on, relieving pressure on your back, hips, and legs.

Some of these spa accessories even come with a headrest and I can confidently say that this is one of the things most hot tubs lack.

By creating a more comfortable seating experience, these cushions enable you to fully relax and unwind, promoting a deeper sense of tranquility and rejuvenation.

towel warmer

12. Towel Warmer

Talk about luxury… Imagine the look on your guests face when they step out of the hot tub and you hand them a hot towel to dry off. I think a towel warmer is one of the hot tub accessories that you might as well find a reason to splurge on because it’s awesome.

The gentle heat from the warmer not only keeps your towels toasty but also helps to dry them quickly, ensuring that you always have a warm and dry towel at hand.

Not to mention if you ever upgrade your spa with a dry or wet sauna, a towel warmer is even more necessary.

This simple yet indulgent addition enhances relaxation, adds a spa-like element to your hot tub routine, and elevates the overall enjoyment of your hot tub sessions.

Final Thoughts

My goal was to provide a wide assortment of hot tub accessories; some more necessary than others. The important thing to remember is that you can’t put a price on your rest and relaxation.

You bought a hot tub because you believe it will improve your life, your mental health, and your overall well being. Many of these cool hot tub accessories will only take the experience to the next level. Enjoy!
