sauna blanket higherdose

Sometimes, going to the gym or spa to experience a sauna is too much work, especially when leading a busy lifestyle. Alternatively to visiting a sauna, you can have a sauna experience using a sauna blanket.

Some of the best sauna blankets use infrared light to warm your body, helping to improve your blood flow, blood pressure, heart health, reduce chronic pain, relieve sore muscles, and speed up metabolism. Sauna blankets are simple to use and easy to transport.

During these infrared sauna blanket reviews, I looked at factors such as heat settings, price, ease of use, and how the sauna blankets can positively contribute to your health.

Our Review Methodology

During my sauna blanket reviews, I noticed a handful of things that stood out immediately as factors that could make me want to buy (or not buy) one of these products.

Here are four things I tested during my trials and research:

Temperature Range: Temperature range is one of the most important factors regarding sauna blankets. I prefer a sauna blanket that can reach at least 150 degrees. Most of these blankets have a range of temperatures, ranging anywhere from 95 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit.

Comfort: The comfort of the sauna blankets was another important factor in my research. Sauna blankets must be comfortable, as you can spend as much as 45 minutes in a session to a 60 minute session.

Ease of  Use: A sauna blanket should be easy to use and simple enough for anyone of any age to understand how to operate. Most sauna blankets have a simple controller to control the temperature range and any other settings the blanket offers. I prefer sauna blankets that fold up when they’re not in use.

Many of these sauna blankets are affordable and budget-friendly. However, some of them are expensive. The blankets that seem expensive have additional features, such as vibration modes, extra space, or length.

I am flexible when it comes to temperature range with a sauna blanket. While some blankets do not exceed 150 degrees, I prefer sauna blankets that reach higher temperatures. It was important to me to find sauna blankets that have a wide temperature range since everyone has different preferences.

When conducting my review, all of these sauna blankets are relatively easy to set up, use, and take down when finished. The only one that may be more difficult than others to set up and put away is the lie down sauna, as it is larger than the typical sauna blankets. I had a more difficult time folding that up to store when compared to the sauna blankets.

I also understand that nobody wants to spend time in a sauna blanket if it is uncomfortable, so comfortability is a considerable factor in determining why these are the best sauna blankets.

The HigherDOSE Infrared Blanket was one of the most comfortable sauna blankets I experienced during my review.

While most of these sauna blankets seem affordable to me, a couple are out of my typical price range. However, I found that the sauna blankets that are more costly than the others have more features that add to the sauna blanket experience.

10 Best Infrared Sauna Blankets: Reviewed

Best Sauna Blanket Overall

1. HigherDOSE Infrared Blanket

best sauna blanket higherdose

Pros

  • Helpful for healing and recovery
  • Great price
  • Triggers intense sweat
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Single person use

Healing and Recovery

The HigherDOSE Infrared Blanket is an excellent option to help aid in healing and recovery. Adjusting the heat to the highest setting causes you to sweat intensely and your heart rate will rise.

The high heat from the sauna blanket increased my heart rate, which will help burn calories if you intend to use it for weight loss. The increased heart rate is good for cardiovascular health as well.

In addition, this sauna blanket is effective in loosening any tight muscles and easing joint pain. Your muscles will feel much more relaxed after a single session. After about 15 minutes, I definitely started to feel loose.

Easy to Use

To use the HigherDOSE Infrared Sauna Blanket, you will want to be fully clothed to protect your skin from the high heat. You should wear a long-sleeved shirt, socks, and pants. If you are sensitive to heat, you can add a towel between you and the blanket for additional protection. You need to preheat the blanket for about 10 minutes.

Once it is done preheating, you can use the blanket on a flat surface, like your bed. To feel extra comfortable, rest your head on a pillow throughout the process. You can enjoy the effects of the sauna blanket anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes.

Reasonable Price

Compared to other sauna blankets, the HigherDOSE blanket is reasonably priced. While it may seem expensive, it is an appropriate price for everything you get out of the blanket. It is currently priced at $699 in the United States.

While it might seem unreasonable to pay nearly $700 for a sauna blanket, this blanket is worth every dollar. After using this blanket a few times, I can confirm that I feel much less tense, relaxed, and rejuvenated after each use.

Best Sauna Blanket for Weight Loss

2. Sun Home Saunas Infrared Sauna Blanket

sauna blanket sunhome

Pros

  • Good temperature range
  • Heats up quickly
  • Good for weight loss
  • Easy to clean

Cons

  • Minimum temperature is high

Helps With Weight Loss

The Sun Home Saunas Infrared Blanket is helpful to use if you are working to lose weight. While the blanket will not make all your weight fall off, it will help aid in weight loss if you are working towards that goal.

The reason this sauna blanket can help you lose weight is because it heats to such high temperatures, causing your heart rate to increase. I started to break a sweat after only a few minutes which is great for weight loss.

Heats Up Quickly

One of features that stands out the most to be with the Sun Home Saunas infrared Blanket is that it heats up quickly. Since it heats up so quickly, this blanket is a great option for anyone who has a busy lifestyle with work or family. This is how quickly it can heat up to specific temperatures:

  • 5 minutes to reach 122 degrees Fahrenheit
  • 8 minutes to reach 140 degrees Fahrenheit
  • 12 minutes to reach 158 degrees Fahrenheit
  • And 15 minutes to reach 167 degrees Fahrenheit

You can also start at the minimum temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, which takes less than 5 minutes to reach. However, 95 degrees may be too high of a temperature to start for some.

Easy to Clean

Many sauna blankets are difficult to clean, as most of them are sewn along the bottom of the blanket. The Sun Home Saunas Infrared Blanket is lined with a velcro closure along the bottom and sides of the blanket, making it much easier to clean.

The blanket itself folds up, like you would with a sleeping bag, and can be peeled apart because of the velcro edges. Therefore, you can undo the velcro so that the blanket lays completely flat.

This makes it more accessible for you to clean the inside of the blanket, which gets the sweatiest. I just used a simple antibacterial spray and it wiped down pretty quick.

Best Sauna Blanket for Relaxation

3. LifePro Far Infrared Sauna Blanket

sauna blanket relaxing

Pros

  • Excellent warranty
  • Wide temperature range
  • Comes in two sizes
  • Zip up arm holes

Cons

  • Minimum temperature is high
  • Feels heavy

Easy to Relax

The LifePro Far Infrared Sauna Blanket, which is essentially a sauna sleeping bag, is the best blanket for relaxation for multiple reasons.

After using this blanket, I felt all of the benefits of a sauna without actually entering a sauna. The blanket created a steamy and hot feeling around  my body, while not burning my face or throat.

Since the blanket can heat to such high temperatures, ranging from 77 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit, I feel that heat melts away any aches and pains so I can enter a deep relaxation. You can set the timer somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes so you can relax and enjoy the treatment.

Comes in Two Sizes

This sauna blanket comes in two sizes, regular and large. Many other sauna blankets only have one standard size, which can be problematic depending on your height. While I feel comfortable with the regular size blanket, anyone else who is taller might feel more comfortable in the large sized blanket.

The LifePro regular blanket is 71 inches long and 31 inches wide. The large blanket is 76 inches long and 36 inches wide, giving you an additional 5 inches of wiggle room. If you feel you might be too tall for the standard size blanket, you should go with the large size, as it can make all the difference.

Excellent Warranty

This blanket has one of the best warranties that I have come across throughout this review. The LifePro Far Infrared Sauna Blanket has a 100 percent lifetime warranty. Their warranty states that if the product does not function as it is intended, it can be replaced for free.

Many warranties do not offer a free replacement if the product does not work properly, nevertheless a lifetime warranty. It is reassuring to purchase a sauna blanket, knowing that you are covered if something doesn’t work as intended.

budget sauna blanket

Pros

  • Budget friendly
  • Can help boost your metabolism
  • Helps ease tension
  • Includes two disposable thermal wraps

Cons

  • Zipper can pinch your skin

Budget Friendly

The LifePro Detoxification Sauna Blanket is extremely budget friendly. Priced at $179.99 in the United States, it is one of the most inexpensive sauna blankets on the market. At first, I was skeptical of the price, assuming it wouldn’t work as efficiently as the other blankets.

However, I realized that this sauna blanket offers much of the same effects as the more expensive blankets for a more affordable price. The only feature that makes the blanket more noticeably budget friendly to me is the zipper quality.

The overall quality of the blanket is great, but the zipper has a tendency to get stuck or pinch your skin if you zip it too quickly.

Detoxification and Eases Muscle Tension

With the temperature of this sauna blanket ranging from 113 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit, you can control the heat that feels best for you to relieve any muscle tension. I prefer the higher heat settings, as it relaxes my muscles, causing any soreness to decrease.

The high heat settings can help boost detox and fat loss, as your heart rate and sweat level gradually increase throughout your session. The multiple heat settings help to reduce recovery time, muscle tension, and feelings of stress.

The higher the heat setting, the more you will sweat out any toxins within your body, causing an instant detoxification.

Thermal Wraps Included

Unlike many other sauna blankets, the LifePro Detoxification Sauna Blanket comes with 2 disposable thermal wraps. The thermal wraps are used to help restrict heat from escaping throughout your session, which can help improve your results.

Once you use the two included thermal wraps, you can purchase additional wraps separately, or you can add a towel as a layer between your body and the blanket.

foil sauna blanket

Pros

  • Retains up to 97 percent of heat
  • Includes 50 foil blankets
  • Lightweight
  • Reusable

Cons

  • Can be noisy

Retains Up to 97 Percent of Heat

The Healthyline Thermal Foil Blanket is one of the best foil blankets to use between your sauna blanket. These blankets are designed to be used for various purposes, like using as a layer between you and a sauna blanket or for emergencies.

They are also great when used inside or inside of an infrared sauna or portable sauna . Using this thermal foil blanket can make your sauna blanket experience even better, as the blanket is designed to keep in most of your heat.

Lightweight and Reusable

These thermal foil blankets are extremely lightweight, and can be reused a couple times before disposing of them. Weighing only 3.2 ounces, you will barely feel like there is a foil blanket on you throughout your sauna blanket session or typical sauna session.

While you can reuse the blanket maybe 2 to 3 times before disposing of it, I think using it twice is enough before throwing it out. I can imagine how this blanket might start to smell after a handful of uses.

Includes 50 Blankets Per Purchase

One of my favorite things about purchasing the Healthyline Thermal Foil Blankets is that you get 50 blankets for once purchase.

The 50 blankets should be enough to last you a while, which is helpful for both affordability and convenience. You can use each blanket more than once, which will make your supply last even longer.

Best Portable Sauna Blanket

6. MiHigh Infrared Sauna Blanket

best portable sauna blanket

Pros

  • Easy to fold
  • Wide temperature range
  • Includes a carry bag
  • Waterproof PVC material

Cons

  • Seems narrow compared to other sauna blankets

Portability

The MiHigh Infrared Sauna Blanket is the best portable infrared sauna blanket, according to my research. The blanket comes with a carry bag, specifically to make it easier to carry with you.

This blanket is more narrow compared to others, but the size of the blanket contributes to its portability. Most blankets are about 71 inches wide, while this one is only 62 inches wide, making it easier to fit in your carrying bag.

Wide Temperature Range

The MiHigh Infrared Sauna Blanket has a wide temperature range, ranging between 77 and 167 degrees Fahrenheit. With the extensive temperature settings, you can choose a mild heat setting or an extreme heat setting, depending on what you want to accomplish throughout your session.

The lower heat works great for relieving muscle tension, while the high heat works well to achieve extra sweat, aiding in weight loss and overall health.

Waterproof

The inside of the MiHigh Infrared Sauna Blanket includes a waterproof liner, which is helpful when it comes to cleaning.

While it might not always seem that the inside of your blanket should be cleaned, the amount that you sweat throughout a sweat session calls for frequent cleaning of the blanket. The waterproof liner is simple to clean, and allows the sweat not to be absorbed further into the blanket.

Best Sauna Blanket to Automatically Turn Off

7. TOPQSC Infrared Sauna Blanket

automatic sauna blanket

Pros

  • Automatic shut off
  • Two heating zones
  • Hand port access
  • Two year warranty

Cons

  • Can get dangerously hot at times

Automatically Turns Off

Not many sauna blankets have an automatic turn off feature, but the TOPQSC Infrared Sauna Blanket does. It will automatically turn off once you reach the maximum temperature.

It does this mostly for safety reasons, so your body does not become overheated. The automatic turn off setting is ideal for anyone who would rather not listen for a timer, or have to turn off the blanket themselves.

Two Heating Zones

This sauna blanket has two heating zones, both of which you can control the temperature by using the remote control or the control panel on the blanket.

You can set the upper and lower ends of the blanket to different temperatures according to your personal preference. It is simple to use, and you can have the freedom to choose which part of your body gets the most heat.

Hand Port Access

The hand port feature of this blanket is one of my favorite features. There are ports for your arms on both sides of the blanket, allowing you to move your arms through the blanket so you can access the remote, your cell phone, or the TV remote.

The hand ports can be zippered to open or close, making it simple to grab an item without having to open the whole sauna blanket up.

Best Vibrating Sauna Wrap

8. Sharper Image Calming Heat Sauna Wrap

vibrating sauna blanket

Pros

  • 3 vibration modes
  • 8 temperature settings
  • Easy to clean

Cons

  • Maximum temperature is low

3 Vibration Modes

One of the best features about the Sharper Image Calming Heat Sauna Wrap is the blanket has 3 vibration modes. You can alter the vibration modes along with your favorite temperature setting so you can intensify your experience. You can set the timer to last between 15 and 60 minutes allowing you to relax, without worrying about when to turn off the blanket.

8 Temperature Settings

The Sharper Image Calming Heat Sauna Wrap has 8 temperature settings for you to choose from when using your sauna wrap blanket. You can change them throughout your session or you can choose one based on your preference.

You can also mix and match your temperature settings with the vibration modes throughout your experience.

Easy to Clean

The material of the Sharper Image at home sauna blanket is easy to clean. I was able to easily wipe it down with a towel or paper towel after each sweat. While you don’t need to clean it after every use, I sweat quite a bit so it makes sense for me.

Best Sauna Blanket with a Long Controller Cable

9. REVIIV Far Infrared Sauna Blanket

sauna blanket with long cable

Pros

  • Simple to operate
  • Long controller cable
  • Includes a carry bag
  • Machine washable insert towel

Cons

  • Does not get as hot as some other blankets

Long Controller Cable

Compared to many sauna blankets, the REVIIV sauna blanket has a long controller cable. This makes it easy to change the temperature throughout your session, as you do not need to get up. It is pure bliss to be able to lay in your sauna blanket and not move an inch to control the settings.

Carry Bag and Insert

The REVIIV Far Infrared Sauna Blanket includes a carry bag and a cotton towel insert, which is machine washable.

Your blanket can easily fit inside of your carry bag, enabling you to take the entire product with you anywhere. This was especially helpful for me during a recent vacation to the Smoky Mountains.

Simple to Operate

This sauna blanket is simple to use. All you need to do is plug it in, lay it out on a flat surface, and you are ready to begin your session.

You can operate the settings by using the handheld controller that is connected to the blanket through the long cable. There is a digital display on the controller that shows the temperature settings and the time settings, and you can make adjustments according to your preferences.

Best Lie Down Sauna

10. Relax Far Infrared Lie Down Sauna

lie down sauna blanket

Pros

  • Lots of room
  • Includes a pillow
  • Lightweight
  • Heats up quickly

Cons

  • Temperature range is not listed
  • Costly

Spacious

While this is more of a sauna tent than a blanket, this lie down sauna is perfect for anyone who likes some space during their sauna session.

If you like to move around, or have a difficult time sitting still, the Relax Far Infrared Lie Down Sauna is perfect for you. It is 19 inches tall, 65 inches long, and 26 inches wide. This tent is much larger than a typical sauna blanket, so you can lay on your side during the session.

Quickly Heats Up

The Relax Far Infrared Lie Down Sauna has the ability to heat up very quickly, taking no longer than 30 seconds to heat up.

However, there is not a listed temperature range. Without the temperature range being known, I am not sure how hot the sauna actually gets. The heat seems consistent and similar to the sauna blankets at their highest settings.

Includes a Pillow

Since this is such a large product, the sauna tent includes a pillow for your comfort. The pillow is inflatable, so it can collapse when not in use. The pillow allows for you to lay comfortably, so your neck does not become sore throughout the session.

What is a Sauna Blanket?

A sauna blanket, also known as a portable sauna or infrared sauna blanket, is a type of personal sauna device that is designed to wrap around the body like a blanket, delivering heat therapy to the user’s body.

The blanket is typically made of heat-resistant fabric and contains infrared heating elements that emit heat, which is believed to provide a range of health benefits.

Understanding the Benefits of Infrared Sauna Blankets

If you’re trying to de-stress or even lose weight, a sauna blanket has a number of great benefits. Some of these include:

Detoxification: The heat from the sauna blanket can help to increase your body’s natural detoxification process, allowing you to sweat out toxins and other impurities.

Weight loss: Using a sauna blanket can also help you to lose weight by increasing your metabolism and burning calories.

Muscle relaxation: The heat from the sauna blanket can help to relax your muscles, which can be especially beneficial if you’re recovering from a workout or experiencing muscle tension or soreness.

Improved sleep: Regular use of a sauna blanket can also help you to sleep better by promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

Skin health: The heat and sweat generated by the sauna blanket can help to unclog pores and promote healthy skin.

Overall, a sauna blanket can be an excellent investment for anyone looking to improve their health and well-being. With regular use, you can experience a range of benefits that will help you feel and look your best.

How to Use a Sauna Blanket?

To use a sauna blanket, follow these steps:

  1. Set up the sauna blanket in a spacious and flat area. Make sure the surface is clean and dry.
  2. Connect the sauna blanket to a power outlet and switch it on.
  3. Remove any clothing and jewelry that may interfere with the sauna blanket.
  4. Lie down on the blanket and adjust the temperature to your liking.
  5. Relax and enjoy the warmth of the sauna blanket. You can also read a book or listen to music while you’re in the blanket.
  6. When you’re done, switch off the blanket and carefully get up. Wipe off any sweat with a towel and let your body cool down for a few minutes.
  7. Fold the sauna blanket and store it in a cool and dry place until your next use.

Remember to stay hydrated during your sauna blanket session and avoid using the blanket if you have any medical conditions or are pregnant.

How to Clean a Sauna Blanket?

It is rather simple to clean a sauna blanket. The best way to clean them is to use either a towel or paper towel to wipe down the blanket with an antibacterial spray after each use. After about 5 to 10 uses, you can make your own cleaning spray to better clean the blanket.

A homemade vinegar spray, made using equal parts of vinegar, water, and a drop of an essential oil, can ensure that there is no remaining sweat on your blanket.

After cleaning, leave the zipper of the blanket unzipped and unfold it so it is open. Leave the blanket open until it is completely dry.

What is the Best Temperature for a Sauna Blanket?

The ideal temperature for a sauna blanket is somewhere between 100 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, but it all depends on your personal preference. I prefer the temperature to be on the higher end, around 150 degrees.

If it gets too hot, the high heat can burn your skin if you have sensitivities, or you can also experience dehydration. However, everyone is different in how they tolerate the heat from a sauna blanket.

Frequently Asked Questions About Infrared Sauna Blankets

Are sauna blankets worth it?

Sauna blankets are definitely worth it. They offer multiple benefits for your skin, body, mental health, and overall health. As long as you stay hydrated before and after your sauna session, you should feel the effects of the sauna almost immediately.

If the price is a factor that can determine if you feel a sauna blanket is right for you, the cost of a sauna blanket is much less than the cost of an at home sauna, which can help with your decision.

Why am I not sweating in the infrared sauna blanket?

If you are not sweating in the infrared sauna blanket, it is likely because it is not hot enough. This can happen if you are new to sauna blankets, and you have the heat on the lowest setting. It is important that you begin at a low heat setting if you are new to sauna blankets.

Your body should start to sweat after a few minutes. If you still do not sweat after about 10 minutes, you can turn the heat up.

Should I use an infrared sauna blanket in the morning or night?

The best time to use your sauna blanket is either early in the morning or at night before you go to bed. While you certainly can use the sauna blanket at any time of the day, you might feel the best if you use it either really early or before you go to sleep.

How much time should I spend in a sauna blanket?

The amount of time you spend in a sauna blanket is completely up to you. As a beginner, you should start off by spending about 15 minutes in the sauna blanket once a week, before working up to longer sessions multiple times a week. It is completely dependent on what you feel your body can handle.

Final Thoughts

While I enjoyed the experience of all of these sauna blankets, my top pick would have to be the HigherDOSE Infrared Blanket. The HigherDOSE sauna blanket is effective for healing, pain relief, and muscle recovery, it is easy to use, and it comes at an affordable price.
